Look at this LOVELY family! They bravely dodged thunderstorms and torrential downpours to take these photos. Seriously, it was raining as I drove to this session. It cleared up just long enough for us to take pictures, and then started raining again as I drove home! But I’m so glad we went ahead and risked getting wet – their photos turned out beautifully!
Sometimes, the most memorable photo sessions are when Mother Nature tests our resolve. Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a wonderful extended family session in Beachville, Ontario…
As I left my home in Thamesford, the sky was dark, and thunder echoed in the distance. Rain began to pour down as I made my way to the session, and my mind was racing with concerns about the weather. However, to my delight, this family arrived with smiles on their faces and an unwavering positive attitude, ready to embrace whatever the weather had in store for us!
Miraculously, as we began the session, the rain paused! The clouds parted just enough to let through a soft, diffused light—the kind photographers dream of. The air was fresh, and the trail, with its lush greenery glistening with rain, provided a perfect backdrop for our session.
I was reminded of the importance of flexibility and the power of a positive attitude. This family’s willingness to brave the storm and trust in me to capture their moments despite the unpredictable weather made this session unforgettable. It was a true testament to the saying, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” With the family’s cooperation, we flew through all of the photos we wanted to capture in record time, and just as we wrapped up our final shots, raindrops began to fall again. We packed up quickly and returned to our cars. As I drove home, the heavens opened up, and the rain fell in torrents.
