Nothing makes me happier as a photographer than being welcomed back by a family I’ve photographed before—especially when it means another visit to their beautiful dairy farm in Thamesford, Ontario. As I pulled up the drive this time, I couldn’t help but smile, knowing I’d get to witness another chapter in their story. This session felt like a celebration of so many of the things that I love about family photography: real connections, laughter, and the special bond between these amazing kids and their beloved 4H cows.

As the evening sun dipped toward the horizon, the whole farm seemed to glow. There’s something magical about golden hour out here—the light turns everything soft and golden, and you can almost feel the warmth in the air. We kicked things off by focusing on the sweet connection between the kids and their cows. Watching them together, I could see just how much these animals mean to them—every gentle pat, every giggle, every quiet moment told a story of love, pride, and devotion. These cows aren’t just part of their 4H journey—they really are part of the family, cared for with so much heart.

Of course, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass without gathering the whole family together for some portraits. When Mom and Dad joined in, you could see how much love ties them all together—there’s a warmth between them that shines through in every photo. One of my favourite moments was when we wandered into the nearby wheat field. The tall golden stalks, the glow of the sunset, and the laughter echoing across the field made for the most stunning backdrop. The light was absolutely magical, and I remember grinning behind my camera as we captured both the playful and heartfelt moments that make this family so special. 🙂

Honestly, one of my greatest joys as a photographer is being invited back year after year to document a family’s journey. It’s so special to watch the kids grow, see their personalities shine, and capture the little connections that make their family unique. Sessions like this always remind me that the most meaningful memories are found in the everyday moments—the laughter, the hard work, the traditions, and all the love that fills their story.

It was such an honour to spend another evening on your farm, laughing and making memories together.
